Flashback to the magical island of Kauai

In March of 2016 I was commissioned to fly to Kauai, Hawaii to document the Marriott Courtyard Hotel, the best island tours and other incredible features of this beautiful island.  Time does fly by and can not believe it was 9 years ago!

I wanted to share some of the amazing images captured that week with you this month and one of the major highlights was a helicopter tour over the Napali coast line to then land in the dense jungle where the iconic scene from Jurassic Park was filmed in 1992.  The shot above is my wife Erin and I once we landed on that site and were requested to wear the protective shoe coverings to ensure no bacteria and or foreign objects on our shoes were left behind in this sacred place.

The goal of this project was to create new and unique images of the hotel and grounds, but also to capture the overall beauty of the island of Kauai to promote and market to hotel guests. The island of Kauai is coined “the garden isle” due to most of it being a national park with tons of amazing excursions and adventure type activities the island goers can experience during their stay.

It was a jam packed week of photography and got the privilege to document many amazing sites including the Jurassic Park waterfall, the Napali Coastline from a catamaran and helicopter, Poipu Beach, Kauai Adventure 4 Wheeling and hiked the famous Kalalau Trail to name a few.  I was sure to capture locals and other vacation goers along the way to show the candidness and the scenes they were in.

The hotel and the island of tourism now uses these images to promote the magical island of Kauai.

My career as a professional photographer has taken me many amazing places over the 21 years, but I would have to say this gig was a highlight for sure!

If you have been you understand what I mean and if you have not been, it is a must add destination to your bucket list.

Aloha a hui hou...which means "love, until we meet again."
