Southern Charm: A HS Senior Session to Remember

There is something timeless about a southern farmhouse - the weathered wood, the open fields, the quiet charm of the property.  It made the perfect setting for this recent HS senior session, captured just a few weeks ago here in Greensboro, NC.

I had the opportunity to photograph Taylor a few weeks back at one of my private portrait locations here in Greensboro.  I have known her family for a long time and was thrilled when her mom called the studio to book this session.

This unique farmhouse property is owned by a close friend of mine and has been in her family since 1894 and showcases a historic home, horse barn and many acres of land which makes for a perfect background for my photography sessions.

Taylor arrived that morning with an effortless smile and a natural confidence that made the shoot feel easy and fun from the very first click of the camera.  She brought a warmth to every image and the perfect morning sunrise made it a portrait session to remember!  We began with a flowing blue summer dress, then she changed into a modern white dress with cow girl boots and concluded with her formal cap and gown.

Here are some personal tidbits from Taylor :

The different cap and gowned cords are...

.Blue/Gold cords- Future Business Leaders of America- I was a Regional Public Speaking Winner for 3 years and finished in the Top 15 in State for public speaking.

.Red/Navy twisted cords- Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership - I served as the President for FCA.

.Metal- National Honor Society Member

.Gold/Grey Twist cord- Community Service Recognition

This year I received the following:
.7/8A All Conference Team Volleyball
.Service Learning Diploma from Guilford County for completing over 200 hours of community service hours- I completed close to 300 hours.
.The ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate and Award

The one I am most proud of receiving is the Sergeant Dale Nix Memorial Scholarship, for outstanding achievements in academic, leadership, and service to the Northwest Community.

I am attending UNCW this fall, where I will major in pre-Occupational Therapy. I plan to participate in their Paws for People program, which will train me in service dog work, as I hope to have a service/comfort dog in my future career as an Occupational Therapist.

Thank you again Mike. The pictures are amazing!

Senior sessions are always about more than photos - they are about capturing a moment right on the edge of something new and exciting for the rising senior and bringing out their personality.

This was indeed a perfect location, a perfect morning and a senior who made it all come to life.  Congrats to you Taylor and wishing you the best in your college journey!
